Definition of Enterprise

The Terms Company, organization, firm, and business are all synonyms for the word “enterprise”.Furthermore, this is explained as the action of venture. Dictionaries define enterprise, business or company as the action of performing a project. No matter the meaning or linguistics acceptance, the truth is that a business is the beauty salon, the chocolate factory firing that savor which gives an appetite, the bar that we visit at weekends, even our school where we studied. All those, no matter the size, location, and activity, are enterprises.

We are going to part from the introduction to the world of business, so it’s necessary to understand a detailed definition of business. To achieve the understanding, and for our effects, we shall understand an enterprise as an organization that uses raw material, capital, work force and management abilities to produce goods and/or services useful to society.

The key point for this definition lies to recognize that there is a relation among the elements needed in the enterprise, all in terms of inputs and those generated as outputs, for this transformation requires a productive process, in one way or other justify the execution of projects.

Any enterprise that arises and endures shall make sure that their goods or services offered will be necessary and useful to their consumers. We can say, the enterprises are created to satisfy the needs of a population that demands goods and services, according to the economic conditions, political conditions, culture, technological and social in which they find.

All enterprises that keep up and survive are living constantly worried about improving the quality of their goods and services, and stay in the advance-guard on technological advances that demand constant actualization to keep up on a market which is more competitive day by day.

Most of the business that disappears or goes to bankrupt are those who forgot their purposes. They downplayed the essence for which they were made thus losing resources, money and time on other activities, different to those set in the business plan.

In the other hand, we live in an era in which the constant change, forces to spin the purpose of our businesses, where due to the need of survival, we have to abandon our production(goods, services) and renew it with new ones, which have been replaced because technological advances.

This concept may be applied for a definition of small business since the most notorious different between a small business and a large one is the size of their staff as well the capital they handle, but the manner it should be considered.
