How to be a good leader in business

I used to hear the slang “To be a leader we must born being leaders”. There something true about these words however it is not. The leader has the strength to be leader and to lead all his/her people to a common benefit. If we remember history, we have hundred of tales about great leaders where they made greatest feats but they didn’t do it all be their self. The leader is just the connection for all the points in a team; he/she knows what to do and where he must lead his/her team.

Leadership in business is not that different than leadership from great leaders on history, but I don’t want to annoy you with ancient tales so let’s go straight to the point.

First of all, a leader needs to know which are the goals to follow this is because without any goal the leadership has no sense. Let’s suppose you as a leader propose to reach a 200% percent of sells during the week in your business. The objective is to achieve a 200% of sales during the week compared from the last week. You must communicate to all team members (your employees) about the objective and moreover to remark that this objective has a benefit for all the team.

A leader can give orders to the team members, but don’t let this cloud our senses, each order from the leader has to be premeditated and oriented to the objective of team and not personal benefits. Think first what you want for your team first and never use your personnel to achieve personal benefits. The benefits must be for all. This is a remark for a good leadership.

A leader never asks to do something he/she can’t do or he/she doesn’t know how to do it, or if the task is out of specialty of the leader, he/she never asks to do something beyond the possibilities of the team.

You as a leader must know how to speak to your audience otherwise your team will never understand your points or they will be disagree with your plans. Professionalism is the key on every moment when talking to an audience. Properly spoken words have a tremendous power over your audience that is why is necessary to know how to speak to your audience.

A leader knows he/she is on the same level of the team members thus he/she doesn’t feel more important than they are, he act and work with team every moment watching with satisfaction the progress of the business, knowing that soon all together will achieve their goal.

A leader is a cheerleader by nature, if any unexpected problem discourages the team from their activities the leader is the one that gives the courage to continue. It is common when starting an activity to problems occurs, the leader know that any problem can be resolved so he/she acts like a cheerleader encouraging the team to continue.

How to be a good leader is not that hard is just a matter to look first for the team and the benefits they have because after all in business leadership is the key to success but the leader is nothing without his/her team.
